I was born in a little village called Musbury between Axminster and Seaton in Devon.  My Grandfather had a farm just down the road and I spent every possible moment there.  My Grandfather ploughed using a shire horse which is my first memory of horses.  An Uncle also farmed a few miles away and had 2 horses, a hunter Lorna and a pony named Pixie.  My cousins had riding lessons and rode but I was unable to and was insanely jealous of them. If ever I was missing my parents knew I would be in the stables with the horses.  I remember being taken to Dartmoor for days out and the highlight of my day would be seeing the wild ponies there.

Amanda

I came on holiday to French Riding Holidays in 2011, and fell in love with the place. Later on that year, I left my job in Information Technology for HSBC Bank, and decided to take some time off and ride the world! I have been lucky enough to do some amazing riding holidays from Mongolia to Chile, from South Africa, Botswana and Namibia to Lapland and many more…. However I always loved the riding, horses and people at FRH. I think it was my fourth holiday here, when I literally didn't get my plane home. I stayed out to help and work here for a few months, and this then became my way of life. In 2015, I was lucky enough to buy the Mas De Clamouze, and its surrounding land. So from IT to a farmer. I didn't see that happening! I am privileged to work with lovely horses, and a great team of people. That is what makes the Mas De Clamouze so special. Its a great job and I look forward to seeing you here for your next holiday. Amanda xx..

Cate is Dereks daughter and has been riding since she was a small child, inheriting the love of the horse. She has now been working at FRH for a few years and has now taken over the management and running of FRH. She is enthusiastic to get things right for guests and their horses, providing brilliant riding going forward.. plus plenty of new ideas for trails to where she lives near Lugan. Perfect!
